Being Passionate About Life

Posted by

Some people have “it” and some people don’t.  What exactly is “it?”  I’m not talking sex appeal or charisma, nor am I referring to extreme intelligence or even material wealth.  What I am talking about is something a bit more intangible, you know, those people who are passionate about life.

Now, I know several people who I would label as passionate about certain aspects of their lives.  Some just love college basketball.  Others are gaga over Lady Gaga.  Still others are avid bird watchers.  What are you passionate about?  What makes you passionate about these things?

Perhaps what I call the 5 E’s might describe why you’re passionate.  Whatever “floats your boat” usually makes you feel:

While your special interest may boost your spirits, can you honestly say that you feel passionate about your life–your whole life, not just one activity or one small area of your life?  Many of us, if answering honestly, would probably say something like, “No, I’m not passionate about my life.  I’m passionate about parts of my life, but there are a lot of things in my life that I really don’t like much.”

And if that answer describes how you feel, then you probably think that’s all there is, and I just have to settle for what is.  How sad is that?  Do we have no ability to change things?  Do we have no motivation to better our lives?

People who are passionate about life have some traits in common – among them a quest for learning, personal growth and development, and focusing on their dreams until realized.  Want to be more passionate in your life?  Then be persistent in your pursuits to better your life and make your dreams come true.  Please don’t settle.

I often wonder what this world would be like if people were more passionate about their whole lives, rather than just little portions.  Gosh, now there’s a great dream!
