About Karen

KarenCrop2Karen R. Shulman is the owner of Hands-On Consulting, Inc., a management consulting firm specializing in human resource issues such as developing, customizing, and conducting training programs, and facilitating team processes.

She is also a Certified Dream Manager, helping individuals and teams understand and work toward achieving their dreams. Karen has several years of experience working in and with corporate human resource and finance functions. Her independent consulting work has enabled her to work with organizations such as AAA; The Ability Center; The Employers’ Association; Gallon, Takacs, Boissoneault and Schaffer; Knight Crockett Miller Insurance Group; Owens Community College; Pilkington North America; Silgan Can; Tiffin University; and WSOS Community Action.

Hands-On Consulting, Inc. has a second division specializing in licensed massage therapy, provided in the workplace or in Hands-On Consulting’s offices. While doing her master’s thesis research, Karen studied the effects of an on-site chair massage therapy intervention on employee anxiety levels in the workplace. Her study concluded that massage therapy was beneficial in reducing employee anxiety levels.

Karen has a Masters of Organization Development degree from Bowling Green State University, a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from The University of Michigan-Dearborn, and a diploma from The American Institute of Massotherapy, Inc. She is also a Certified Compensation Professional through the American Compensation Association and a Licensed Massage Therapist through both the State Medical Board of Ohio and the State of Florida Department of Health.
